Hello everyone 🙏🏻
I've always mentioned in my social media live sessions and interviews that I'd get double eyelid surgery once I turn 30, and I promised that I would share it publicly if I went through with it.
Since I didn’t have double eyelids before, I used various types of eyelid tape for about a decade when doing makeup. Although it worked well with eye makeup, without it, my eyelids would sag and fold unevenly. While this wasn't noticeable in photos, it became apparent in close-up shots for skincare commercials.
The entertainment industry here in Myanmar is very competitive, and sometimes you receive critical feedback meant to help you succeed in your work.
Whether it's well-meaning or not, it still affects you. A comment from an agency once stuck with me: "Your eyes make you look sad all the time, and they sag, making your face less expressive. Don't smile because it makes you look like you're about to cry."
I’m not someone who dwells on negative comments, but I’m open to constructive criticism if it can help me improve. While trying to establish myself in a new market and working hard to get castings, I kept hearing negative judgments about my eyes. This constant criticism eventually as I began to internalize these comments, it started to affect me emotionally.
I’m determined to follow through with my decisions, just as I had decided long ago to get double eyelid surgery before turning 30. Seeing that it was affecting my work, I decided to go ahead with the surgery to upgrade myself. I began consulting with plastic surgery services agents years ago, starting with my agent Bing Bing. After considering various hospitals, I decided on AB Plastic Surgery, where some of my celebrity friends had also had procedures done, and consulted with them about it.
During the consultation at the hospital for my eyes, they noticed a nasal deviation in the scans. I remembered that back in fifth grade, I had an accident where a friend hit me with a lunchbox, causing my nasal bone to shift and my front teeth to break. My nose looks fine from the side, but when viewed from the front, it’s crooked and the tip is upturned. Not wanting to get a silicone nose implant, the doctor suggested I undergo a rhinoplasty using rib cartilage harvested from my own body. This is one of Korea’s latest rhinoplasty techniques, and so I decided to do the rhinoplasty along with the eyelids, forehead lifting and facial fat grafting. Using rib cartilage has less risk and doesn’t require any follow-up surgeries in the future. It’s also possible to use cartilage from a donor, but I was worried about the potential complications of using someone else’s bone in my body, so I decided to use my own rib cartilage.
Since it’s my own bone cartilage, there won’t be any issues with rejection or incompatibility, and it’ll achieve the desired height more naturally. The only downside is that it requires a longer recovery time because the area where the rib was harvested will be a bit stiff and sore for a while. 🥲
This was the first time I took on an upgrade challenge for myself, so I was very excited about it. I was scared, but my desire to look more beautiful outweighed the fear. 🥹 It’s been just a week since the surgery, and the swelling hasn’t gone down completely yet, but I’m already loving my new eyes. Normally, after eyelid surgery, the swelling lasts for three to four months, but the latest technique used in my surgery left no scars, and the results are so natural that I can’t wait to share them with you all. 💯
