Precautions After Forehead Lifting (Endotine)

Posture

  1. It's recommended to refrain from activity and rest by lying down for the first 48 hours after surgery.
  2. Sleeping on your back with your head elevated above your heart for 3~4 days after surgery (a recliner would work best) can reduce swelling edema. However, it is not a 'must-do' posture, so if you feel uncomfortable, you can just sleep flat on your back.

Meals

You may have regular meals, but please avoid strong-tasting, spicy foods.

Swelling

  1. Most major swelling usually subsides within 1 week, but the minor swelling may persist for more than 1 to 3 months after surgery.
  2. For cold compress, you only have to do it until first 3 days after surgery. After that, cold compress won't be as effective so please stop using it. If bruising is severe, warm compresses can be beneficial starting from the 4th day.
Precaution when using warm compress
  • You can use the compress after soaking it to be warm enough in warm water. (Do not use microwave)
  • After surgery, the sensation at the surgical area and its surrounding area may be temporarily dull, so make sure to check the temperature of the compress with your other part of the skin (such as, inner part of your arm) before putting it on the surgical area. This is to prevent skin burns from occurring in the surgical area.

Treatment Care

  1. The stitches removal will be performed within 7 to 14 days.
  2. Please do not remove the bandages or facial garment on your own. (Please adhere to the instructions provided by our hospital.)

Face Washing, Shower & Makeup

  1. Face washing is permissible starting from the day of the surgery, but please be careful not to let water touch the surgical area around the facial garment or the head.
  2. Hair washing is allowed from 3 to 4 days after surgery. When washing your hair, refrain from rubbing the surgical area with your fingers and rinse shampoo with lukewarm water. When drying your hair, please use a hairdryer on the cool air setting or a towel, but be gentle.
  3. Saunas, steam bath, and swimming are prohibited for 1 month after surgery.

Exercise

Daily routine activity may be resumed from 1-week after surgery. Moderate exercise is possible from the 2nd to 3rd weeks after surgery, and strenuous exercise is possible from 1-month after.

Medication

  1. It is important that you take the prescribed medicine regularly at the same time every day, and if you experience symptoms such as diarrhea, or rash, please stop taking it and contact our hospital.
  2. Painkiller is already prescribed in your prescription, but if you still feel pain even after taking it, you can also take any painkiller such as, Tylenol (aka Panadol, Paracetamol), but it must in the right dosage.
  3. Since multi-vitamin (especially, vitamin E) can cause bleeding, it is recommended to avoid taking it for at least 1-month after surgery, unless it is necessary. (Please avoid taking aspirin for 1-week after surgery, unless it is necessary)
  4. It is advised not to take anti-inflammatory medicines because it can cause bleeding.

Alcohol Drinking & Smoking

Smoking and drinking are prohibited for 1 month after surgery due to their negative effects on bleeding, wound healing progress, and infection.

Post-Surgery Progress

  1. You may experience mild skin tension or numbness, which are normal aspects of the recovery process. These sensations typically improve gradually over the course of several months.
  2. If Endotine was used during surgery, you may experience discomfort or sensitivity in the scalp where Endotine was placed. Popping or cracking sounds may be heard from the area where Endotine was inserted for up to 1 year after surgery. Endotine gradually dissolves in the body over time, and these symptoms will diminish as time passes.
