In cases where skin sagging is severe or cheek volume is insufficient due to individual characteristics

Some individuals have a round, oval face shape with evenly distributed facial fat, giving them a youthful appearance. On the other hand, others may have less facial fat and experience skin sagging due to aging, causing the area below the lateral cheekbones to look hollowed, which can make them appear sad or older.

Especially, a "peanut-shaped face" is a term commonly used to describe a face where the square jaw is well-developed, the chin is long, and the cheekbones are prominent.

In such cases, a "3-point facial contouring" surgery, which includes square jaw reduction, cheekbone reduction, and chin tip surgery, can improve the peanut-shaped face. However, it is important to note that this procedure may only alleviate the hollowing below the lateral cheekbones rather than making the area completely flat.

If the hollowing below the cheekbones is severe, in order to achieve a flatter appearance, it is often recommended to combine facial contouring surgery with an additional procedure like fat grafting. This fills the sunken area, resulting in a slenderer and voluminous facial shape.

In cases where you have lost a lot of weight in your face and your face appear sunken

If the protrusion of the square jaw or cheekbones is not severe and only the area that puffs up when you blow air into your mouth appears hollow, facial contouring surgery alone may not be sufficient. 

In such cases, a smooth facial line can be achieved by combining volume-adding procedures like fat grafting with a lifting procedure.

However, there may be instances where a person's square jaw and cheekbones are not actually prominent, but only appear that way because the cheeks have lost a lot of fat. Rather than self-diagnosing with a mirror at home, it is necessary to visit a clinic to have a CT scan and determine whether facial bone improvement is needed or if filling the volume alone would be enough.

After a diagnosis, if improvement of square jaw and protruding cheekbones is required, performing facial contouring surgery alone with a face lift and facial fat grafting can result in an even smoother facial shape.

Facial contouring is not the only option for improving your face shape; there are various other surgeries and procedures available. It is crucial to accurately determine whether your current condition requires facial bone surgery like facial contouring, a volume-enhancing surgery like fat grafting, or if improvement is possible with procedures alone.
