• Q. My vision feels obstructed even when my eyes are open. How is the surgery performed in this case?

  Upper blepharoplasty involves making an incision in the eyelid skin, followed by the removal of fat, skin, and muscle. Lower blepharoplasty is performed by removing or repositioning the protruding fat under the eyes.
• Q. I've heard that surgery can sometimes make one's appearance too intense. Is that okay?

  Our goal is to achieve both functional improvement and aesthetic enhancement simultaneously, aiming for a natural and gentle appearance that harmonizes with the overall facial structure.
• Q. Do I have to create a double eyelid if I undergo upper blepharoplasty?

  It is possible not to create a double eyelid, but if you don’t want one, it’s better to create a hidden double eyelid. If cutting the eyelid skin alone cannot provide good results, a double eyelid will be created. If you already have a double eyelid, when the same amount of skin is cut, the skin rolls in slightly when opening the eyes , so the improvement in eyelid drooping is better than in eyes without a double eyelid. If you don’t want a double eyelid, creating a nearly invisible hidden double eyelid will enhance the surgical outcome.
• Q. Will upper blepharoplasty also remove crow's feet?

  To remove crow's feet, an eyebrow lift is necessary. Upper blepharoplasty involves making an incision in the upper eyelid area to tighten the skin. Since crow's feet form on the outer part of the eyes, it’s difficult to achieve satisfactory improvement with upper blepharoplasty alone. By lifting the skin from beneath the eyebrow through an eyebrow lift, wrinkles on the outer part of the eyes can also be improved.
• Q. Will upper blepharoplasty significantly change my appearance?

  It doesn’t change much. Instead, it gives you a much softer and more gentle appearance. The purpose of upper blepharoplasty is to make it easier to open your eyes comfortably. Since the focus is on creating a natural-looking eye shape rather than a pronounced double eyelid, you’ll achieve a subtle and natural change in your appearance.
• Q. Will aegyo-sal disappear after lower blepharoplasty?

  Not necessarily. It is preferable to restore the youthful appearance of the aegyo-sal through surgery. Removing the sagging skin and muscle under the eyes can sometimes result in a flat look. At AB Plastic Surgery, not only do we avoid removing the aegyo-sal muscle, but we also perform an additional procedure called canthopexy to recreate the youthful appearance. By pulling the skin under the eyes towards the outer corner of the eye with canthopexy, we achieve the effect of reviving the lost aegyo-sal.
• Q. Will my eyes turn inside out after lower blepharoplasty?

  No, that is not the case. We take preventive measures to avoid lower eyelid retraction. A common complication of lower blepharoplasty is lower eyelid retraction, where the eye appears to turn inside out as the lower eyelid is pulled downward. This can occur if too much skin or muscle is removed, or if a hematoma (accumulation of blood) forms after surgery.
