Surgeries: Rhinoplasty

My nose has always been my biggest insecurity, I used to have a typical Asian flat nose with flaring nostrils and a bulbous tip. I’ve been living in Seoul for about four years now, and getting a rhinoplasty was something I’d always thought about. Last summer, I finally decided to do it!

Since I knew nothing about plastic surgery, I started by downloading the Gangnam Unnie App to read reviews and compare clinics that specialize in rhinoplasty. I did tons of research and narrowed it down to a few clinics known for male rhinoplasty. I also spent hours reading other patients’ reviews and looking at before-and-after photos to see which results I liked.

In the end, I booked around 10 consultations across different clinics in the Gangnam area. I wasn’t sure what shape I wanted, and since it was my first operation, I was honestly terrified of ending up with a botched result. So I was extra careful (and probably a bit picky) when choosing the right clinic.

One of my first consultations was at AB Plastic Surgery, and it immediately stood out from the others. The consultation was longer and felt more thorough, it wasn’t rushed at all. The surgeon took the time to explain what could be done, and they even performed a scan that revealed I had a deviated septum, which I didn’t even know about! Out of all the clinics I visited, only two or three were that detailed. That’s what made me decide to go with AB.

Until the day of surgery, I was still unsure about the exact shape I wanted, but I knew I wanted something natural-looking. In the end, I got:
 

• Alar (nostril) reduction
• Nose bridge augmentation
• Septoplasty (to fix my deviated septum)
• Tip refinement (to make it less bulbous)
• A mix of cartilage and silicone to make my nose smaller and higher

Suzy, the interpreter, was incredibly kind and helped me a lot throughout the consultations and post-op care. The clinic itself was spotless and modern, I honestly couldn’t have wished for a better experience for my first plastic surgery.

I didn’t want a fake, pointy nose - just a version of my nose that looked more balanced and natural. And that’s exactly what I got. Even though it’s still a bit swollen, I’m super happy with the result so far and can’t wait to see how it fully heals over the next few months!
